Belgian record champions RSC Anderlecht have signed 23-year-old German winger Marten Winkler from Hertha BSC on a four-year contract, the clubs confirmed Monday.
Winkler, a product of Hertha's academy since age 13, departs after 92 appearances in which he recorded 16 goals and 16 assists for the Berlin side. He leaves on a high note, having contributed two assists and a goal in Hertha's 4-1 home win over 1. FC Heidenheim last weekend. Hertha sporting director Benjamin Weber described Winkler as "a child of our academy."
Winkler is Anderlecht's fifth summer signing and third attacking addition, following Lukas Ambros and Oliver Antman. The club also added defenders Giulian Biancone and Léo Pétrot. Anderlecht currently competes in the Europa League playoffs, with a Conference League group-stage spot guaranteed.
