Thomas Gottschalk, the veteran German television presenter, is currently free of cancer following treatment, according to medical assessments he disclosed in an interview with Bild.
A recent PET scan detected no remaining cancer cells in the 76-year-old's body. Gottschalk underwent two lengthy operations and 33 rounds of radiation after being diagnosed with an epithelioid angiosarcoma in spring 2025. He made the diagnosis public in November 2025. Gottschalk is also participating in a clinical study at the University Medicine Greifswald children's hospital, receiving a specialised vaccine administered every 14 days, with eight of twelve planned doses completed.
Despite the clear scan, no prognosis on long-term recurrence has been offered, and Gottschalk must return for follow-up examinations every three months. His wife Karina attended every medical appointment and radiation session throughout his treatment.
