German celebrity chef Johann Lafer has described severe physical tolls from his ongoing chemotherapy treatment for incurable lymph node cancer, revealing he has lost his sense of taste, cannot eat, and suffers from open sores on his fingers.
Speaking on the Rolling Pin Talks podcast, Lafer said the cancer has spread with metastases throughout his body. He began chemotherapy in early 2026, though he received his diagnosis roughly two and a half years prior. Lafer first made his illness public in May 2026 and later shared a positive health update on Instagram in late June.
The condition remains treatable but not curable, Lafer told listeners, as he detailed the daily challenges of his treatment regimen.
