Stig Krabbe Barfoed, a prominent former host and producer at Denmark's national broadcaster DR, has died aged 92. He passed away on Tuesday morning in Copenhagen, where he was born on 29 May 1934. He is survived by five children and several grandchildren.
Barfoed joined DR's radio theatre division in 1969 after working as culture editor at the Aalborg Stiftstidende newspaper and helping found the Jomfru Ane Theatre in Aalborg. He went on to host several well-known Danish television programmes, including the quiz show 'Klar, parat, svar' in the late 1980s and early 1990s, 'Landet rundt', and 'Kunstquizzen', which helped bring provocative artist Jens Jørgen Thorsen to wider public attention. He also lent his voice to documentary series and produced Jørgen Leth's 1973 cycling short film 'Eddy Merckx in the Vicinity of a Cup of Coffee'.
