Danish chef Mette Dahlgaard dies of breast cancer at 43

Mette Dahlgaard, the former culinary director at Gemyse restaurant in Copenhagen's Tivoli Gardens, has died of breast cancer at the age of 43. She passed away on Saturday, July 18, her husband Morten Jensen confirmed in a Facebook post announcing the death.

Dahlgaard had been admitted to intensive care two days before her death after her cancer took an aggressive turn and was subsequently transferred to Svanevig Hospice, where she spent her final days with her husband.

Earlier in 2026, Dahlgaard had spoken openly about her experiences as a cancer patient.
