Everton and Crystal Palace have agreed a straight swap deal involving wingers Dwight McNeil and Brennan Johnson, with both attackers expected to undergo medicals on Monday before finalising their respective moves. The players are set to sign initial four-year contracts with their new clubs.
Johnson moved to Palace from Tottenham Hotspur in January for a £35 million fee, then a club-record signing, but failed to score in 26 appearances across all competitions. McNeil, 26, nearly joined Palace on deadline day in January via a loan-to-buy arrangement that collapsed when the required paperwork could not be completed in time, despite the player having already passed a medical.
McNeil joined Everton from Burnley for £20 million in July 2022 and scored 15 times in 128 games. Palace, who replaced Oliver Glasner with Pierre Sage as manager, will compete in the Europa League next season after winning the Conference League. The two clubs meet on the opening weekend of the Premier League campaign on 22 August.
