Brentford sign Mali midfielder Mamadou Sangare from Lens in club-record deal

· Sports GBRFRAMLI

Brentford have completed the signing of Mali midfielder Mamadou Sangare from Lens for a club-record fee, the Premier League club confirmed. The deal is worth around €45 million, setting a new record sale for Lens, and eclipses the £42.5 million Brentford paid for Dango Ouattara last summer.

Sangare, who made 33 appearances for Lens last season after arriving from Rapid Vienna, has signed a five-year contract valid until 2031 with an option for a further year. The 16-cap international, who featured at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, arrives as a replacement for Jordan Henderson, who left the club as a free agent last month. Crystal Palace had also considered a move for the player.

Brentford face Rennes in a pre-season friendly at Roazhon Park next week.
