Rescue workers in southwest China have confirmed 30 additional deaths through DNA testing following a massive landslide in Chongqing municipality, bringing the total death toll to 41.

The mountain collapse struck on July 17 near the Wujiang Third Bridge in Pengshui County's Hanjia subdistrict. Authorities had previously reported 14 fatalities and roughly 50 people missing before the latest identifications were completed on Tuesday. Ten people were injured on the day of the disaster.

The landslide buried at least 10 residential homes and prompted the evacuation of approximately 1,100 residents from the surrounding area. Recovery teams have been working through debris in the mountainous terrain since the collapse occurred.
