Chelsea have completed the signing of Argentina midfielder Valentin Barco from Strasbourg on a contract running through 2033, the club confirmed Sunday. The transfer fee was not disclosed.
Barco, who made one appearance for Argentina at the 2026 World Cup as they finished runners-up to Spain, becomes Chelsea's sixth signing of the summer window following the arrivals of Morgan Rogers, Danny Welbeck, Emmanuel Emegha, Maxence Lacroix and Marco Palestra. He will join the squad on their pre-season tour and is expected to feature against Juventus in Hong Kong on 5 August.
The deal marks the 13th transaction between Chelsea and Strasbourg since the start of last season. Barco recorded three goals and 11 assists in 58 appearances during his 18 months with the French club, having originally arrived in Europe from Boca Juniors via Brighton in early 2024.
