Sam Burns surged to a two-shot lead at the British Open on Saturday after a third-round 65 gave him a 10-under-par total of 127 across his last two rounds, the lowest consecutive-round score in men's major history. Burns, who arrived at Royal Birkdale only after his wife delivered their second child nearly two weeks early, had matched the major single-round record with 62 on Friday.

Ryan Fox equalled that 62 mark in the third round to vault to eight under alongside Kim Si-woo, two shots adrift. Bryson DeChambeau, still trailing six under amid his two-stroke penalty controversy, carded a 69, while Tommy Fleetwood shot 69 to move to five under. Defending champion Scottie Scheffler posted a 70 to sit at four under.
