American Jackson Suber shot a five-under-par 65 to take the first-round lead at The Open, setting the pace while Denmark's three hopefuls endured a difficult start to the major championship.
Rasmus Højgaard delivered the best performance of the Danish contingent, carding a one-over 71 to sit tied for 59th. He recorded two birdies against three bogeys over 18 holes. Twin brother Nicolai Højgaard and Rasmus Neergaard fared worse, sharing 85th place at two over par. Nicolai Højgaard posted four birdies but was undone by six bogeys, while Neergaard's round featured an eagle at the 14th alongside four dropped shots.
Suber holds a three-stroke advantage over Scottie Scheffler, who is seeking his first PGA Tour victory since January.
