Rasmus Højgaard, Rory McIlroy, Bernd Wiesberger, Tom Kim and Patrick Cantlay each posted matching five-under-par rounds to share the first-round lead at the Genesis Scottish Open on Thursday at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland. The 25-year-old Højgaard joined the seasoned McIlroy atop the leaderboard in a tournament carrying a nine-million-dollar purse.
Elsewhere in the field, Sudarshan Yellamaraju carded a two-under 68, while Sahith Theegala finished at even par and Aaron Rai one over. Among the Danish contingent, Nicolai Højgaard shot two under to sit tied for 27th, Thorbjørn Olesen held a share of 72nd at level par, and Niklas Nørgaard trailed at one over in a tie for 99th.
The opening round took place on 10 July 2026, with three rounds remaining.
