Anthropic is in negotiations to acquire artificial intelligence startup Decart AI for roughly $6 billion, a deal that would mark the company's largest known acquisition ahead of its anticipated initial public offering. The discussions are not finalised and could still collapse. Neither company commented.
Decart develops software designed to reduce the cost of training AI models by optimising chip efficiency and is also building generative video AI using so-called world models, which aim to simulate physical reality. If the transaction closes, Decart's team would join Anthropic's inference and performance division.
Decart raised $300 million in May in a round led by Radical Ventures, with participation from Nvidia, Atreides Management, Valor Equity Partners and Adobe Ventures, valuing the startup at just under $4 billion.
