Wout van Aert will return to competition at the PostNord Danmark Rundt when the five-day stage race begins on Wednesday in Aalborg, Denmark. The Belgian cyclist was forced to miss the Tour de France due to an elbow infection and has not raced since withdrawing from the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
Team Visma-Lease a Bike confirmed on Monday that Van Aert will be joined by Christophe Laporte for the Danish race, which concludes Sunday in Rødovre. Both riders have previous success at the event: Van Aert won the overall classification in 2018, while Laporte claimed victory in 2022. Van Aert won Paris-Roubaix earlier this season.
The Vuelta a España, beginning 22 August, is Van Aert's next major target, followed by the World Championships in Montreal in September.
