Patrick Wimmer marked his competitive debut for TSG 1899 Hoffenheim with two goals as the Bundesliga side cruised past Regionalliga outfit FC Erzgebirge Aue 4-0 in the first round of the DFB-Pokal on Saturday.
The Austrian international opened the scoring in the sixth minute at the Erzgebirgsstadion and also provided the assist for Wouter Burger's second in the 17th minute. Wimmer then added a third deep into first-half stoppage time to give Hoffenheim a commanding 3-0 halftime lead.
Max Moerstedt completed the rout with a 63rd-minute strike before a crowd of 8,199 in Aue, securing Hoffenheim's comfortable passage into the second round of the German Cup.
