Karlsruhe comeback highlights DFB-Pokal round as Bavarian clubs prepare for ties

Karlsruher SC overcame a first-half deficit to defeat SC Preußen Münster 2-1 in the DFB-Pokal before a sold-out crowd of 13,945 at the Preußenstadion. Montell Ndikom gave Münster the lead in the 35th minute, but Marvin Wanitzek levelled in the 69th and Sebastian Jung struck the winner in the 81st. Münster's Samuel Althaus was sent off deep into stoppage time.

The broader first round continues with six Bavarian clubs entering the competition across the coming days. FC Augsburg visit Energie Cottbus on Saturday, 1. FC Nürnberg face Viktoria Köln, SpVgg Greuther Fürth host VfL Bochum on Sunday, Würzburger Kickers meet 1. FC Köln on Monday, and FC Bayern Munich play VfL Osnabrück on 2 September.

The tournament receives record free-to-air coverage this season, with six matches broadcast on open television, including ZDF's Friday coverage of Hansa Rostock versus VfB Stuttgart and RTL's Saturday slot featuring Hertha BSC against 1. FC Saarbrücken. All 32 ties are available on Sky and RTL+.
