A US federal judge has rejected Ghislaine Maxwell's bid to overturn her sex trafficking conviction, dismissing her habeas petition as based on "speculation, distortions, and/or outright falsehoods".
Judge Paul Engelmayer ruled that Maxwell's objections were unfounded and baseless, finding that documents released earlier this year under the Epstein Files Transparency Act incriminated rather than exculpated her. Maxwell, 64, had argued the conviction was a "complete miscarriage of justice" stemming from withheld information and false testimony at her December 2021 trial.
Maxwell is serving a 20-year sentence for procuring girls for Jeffrey Epstein, who was found dead in his cell in August 2019. She pleaded the Fifth Amendment before the House Oversight Committee in February 2026, a move committee chairman James Comer called "very disappointing".
