A Canadian judge found Peter Nygard guilty of sexual assault and forcible confinement on Sunday in Montreal, marking a second conviction for the disgraced fashion executive. The charges stem from incidents in the late 1990s in which Nygard lured an 18-year-old aspiring model to his penthouse and locked her in a bedroom where he assaulted her. Nygard offered no contest against prosecution evidence on the first day of his trial. Sentencing has been postponed pending a health assessment, though his lawyer will not appeal but has sought to delay extradition to the United States on grounds of age and health.
Nygard was sentenced to 11 years in prison in 2024 for sexually assaulting four women in Toronto, a conviction an Ontario court upheld on appeal earlier this year. Separate historical charges in Winnipeg were stayed by a judge in 2025.
He is expected to be extradited to the US once his Canadian legal proceedings conclude.
