Trump's Gaza recovery plan shrinks to pilot camp as Kushner pushes aid overhaul

The Gaza recovery plan championed by Donald Trump's Board of Peace has been scaled back to a limited pilot project in southern Gaza, with a temporary camp near Rafah expected to house only tens of thousands of the territory's two million displaced residents. Very little of the $17 billion originally pledged has been received, and preparatory work on the camp has not begun.

A small number of Moroccan and Kosovan officers have arrived in Israel as the nucleus of a proposed 5,000-strong International Stabilization Force, with a logistical base nearing completion at the Kerem Shalom crossing. Meanwhile, the Israeli army occupies more than 60% of Gaza and strikes have killed over 1,100 Palestinians since the October 2025 ceasefire.

In Brussels, Jared Kushner presented a new aid distribution framework, arguing that reconstruction cannot succeed while armed groups retain military capabilities. Hamas took part in separate Cairo negotiations on possible disarmament mechanisms.
