BRUSSELS — International donors pledged roughly €884 million for early reconstruction in the Gaza Strip on Sunday as the European Commission unveiled its 'Team Gaza' initiative at the second meeting of the Palestine Donor Group in Brussels.

More than 60 delegations attended the conference, including representatives from the United States and a 'peace council' established by U.S. President Donald Trump. European Commissioner Dubravka Šuica said the initiative will focus on concrete projects in water supply and waste management, building on agreements reached during her visit to Israel in June. EU High Representative Kaja Kallas commented on the bloc's commitment to Gaza's recovery.

The EU and 11 European countries, including Portugal, also committed an additional €41.7 million to the Palestinian Authority. The Palestine Donor Group was originally launched by the Commission in September 2025.
