U.S. President Donald Trump said Monday his relationship with Benjamin Netanyahu remains "very good", even after the Israeli prime minister rejected the latest American roadmap for Gaza. Netanyahu, who called Trump Israel's "greatest friend in the White House", sought to project unity despite the public policy rift.
The warm rhetoric marks a notable shift after relations between the two leaders hit difficulties in the spring, when Trump accused Netanyahu in April of undermining ceasefire negotiations with Iran. The two countries had jointly struck Iran on Feb. 28.
Netanyahu faces a difficult reelection on Oct. 27, Israel's first vote since the Hamas attack of Oct. 7, 2023.
