Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected a 15-point Gaza roadmap brokered by the US-backed Board of Peace, deepening uncertainty over efforts to end the conflict. Speaking at a cabinet meeting on Sunday, Netanyahu said the Israeli military will not withdraw from Gaza until Hamas is "genuinely" disarmed, insisting this must include all heavy and light weapons. He also reaffirmed his opposition to the establishment of a Palestinian state in either Gaza or the West Bank.

The Board of Peace, launched earlier this year under US President Donald Trump, had announced last month that Hamas accepted a framework for complete disarmament. However, Hamas stated its handover of heavy weapons was contingent on a full Israeli withdrawal and an end to all forms of aggression. The plan also envisaged a Palestinian transitional authority supported by an international stabilization force.

Netanyahu noted he is in talks with Washington following the rejection, which came amid growing domestic criticism ahead of elections expected in October. Israel has continued strikes on Gaza since an initial ceasefire last October.
