Italian authorities arrested three men in separate violent incidents across the country's northwest over the past day.
In Albenga, a 21-year-old Moroccan national was taken into custody after attacking his 35-year-old brother with a butcher's machete near the town's railway station during the early night hours. The assailant struck the victim multiple times on the arms and legs before fleeing; carabinieri intercepted him on Via Trieste following a chase. He faces charges of aggravated assault and illegal possession of an offensive weapon, and has been transferred to Imperia prison after his detention was validated.
Near Imperia, a man shot his partner in the hand with an air gun in Molini di Triora. The French woman, who also sustained a head injury, was hospitalised and is not in life-threatening condition. The suspect fled into nearby woods but was apprehended by carabinieri while still carrying the weapon.
In Turin, a 25-year-old Gambian citizen was arrested in the Crocetta district for violence and resistance against officers. Police deployed a taser to subdue him and recovered a 25-centimetre knife concealed in his bedding.
