Thirteen people were injured, two of them critically, when a Ford Transit van veered off the D11 motorway near Chýšť in the Pardubice region early on Friday, emergency services said.
The vehicle, travelling from Hradec Králové toward Prague, left the road at the 69th kilometre at approximately 06:30 local time. The two seriously injured passengers suffered chest trauma, one from being crushed, while the remaining casualties sustained fractures and superficial wounds. Emergency dispatchers deployed seven crews, including a helicopter and four ambulance units, and transported patients to hospitals in Hradec Králové and Pardubice.
A breathalyser test on the driver returned negative for alcohol. The motorway remained open to traffic throughout the rescue operation.
