Take-Two Interactive has launched legal proceedings in the United States to identify individuals responsible for leaking extensive footage from Grand Theft Auto 6, including minutes of gameplay from a development build and the game's entire map. The publisher filed subpoenas targeting Microsoft's GitHub and Discord to obtain user data linked to the leaks.
A hacking group calling itself Cyberleek began releasing gameplay videos on 19 August, with additional material posted through 24 August. Cybercriminals are also distributing a purported full copy of the game laced with malware. Rockstar Games has dismissed dozens of employees for sharing internal information on Discord.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled for release on 19 November 2026, with a production budget rumoured to reach $2 billion. An 18-year-old in Oxford, England, was previously arrested in connection with earlier leaks from 2022.
