Iga Swiatek defeated Diana Shnaider 6-2, 6-1 in the Canadian Open quarterfinals on Monday, setting up a semifinal clash with Elina Svitolina, who rallied past Ekaterina Alexandrova 3-6, 6-0, 6-3. Svitolina, who beat Swiatek in the Rome semifinals in May, will face the Pole again on Wednesday. Swiatek replaced coach Wim Fissette with Francisco Roig earlier this season following a second-round exit in Miami.

In the other half of the draw, world No. 2 Elena Rybakina defeated Naomi Osaka 4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4 in the quarterfinals. Rybakina hit 13 aces and saved four break points in the third set while serving down 3-2, closing out the match with three aces in the final game.

Rybakina will face Coco Gauff in the semifinal. Gauff advanced after Belinda Bencic withdrew with a hip injury and has reached the semifinal without losing a set. The pair last met in the third round of the 2022 Toronto tournament, with Gauff winning.
