A Swedish court on Thursday sentenced six people over a contract killing and a subsequent shooting in Eskilstuna, handing down a life sentence to one gunman and a 16-year term to the other.

The Eskilstuna District Court found that the two hired gunmen from western Sweden shot dead a 35-year-old man with gang links in the Årby district in August 2024. The same pair wounded a 19-year-old man in Lagersberg the following day. The court noted the shootings were carried out for payment.

The second gunman received a shorter sentence after providing crucial information to investigators. Two additional men were jailed for 10 and 12 years for aiding the crime, while two women were convicted of sheltering the perpetrators. In total, four men and two women were convicted in the case.
