Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 after extra time in the 2026 World Cup final at MetLife Stadium, capping a tournament that saw the longest halftime show in competition history at 27 minutes and 22 seconds.
Shakira, performing barefoot to improve her dancing, headlined the show alongside Madonna, Justin Bieber and BTS in a spectacle curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. Her custom Roberto Cavalli dress featured approximately 200,000 Swarovski crystals, with embroidery on the bodice alone requiring more than 120 hours of work and roughly two weeks of production. The design was inspired by the Condesa neighbourhood of Mexico City.
The Colombian star was making her second World Cup final appearance, following the 2006 tournament in Berlin.
