Spain’s governing Socialists have widened their lead over the main opposition People’s Party to nearly eight percentage points, reaching 33% in estimated support in the July barometer published by the CIS state polling agency. The survey, conducted between 1 and 6 July across 4,020 interviews, is the first taken after the conviction of former minister José Luis Ábalos in the so-called masks case.
The PP dropped two points to 25.1%, while the Socialists gained 1.7 points compared with the June reading. Far-right Vox fell half a point to 15.3%, and the left-wing Sumar coalition dipped to 6.1%.
Among smaller parties, the anti-establishment Se Acabó la Fiesta rose to 2.6%, overtaking Podemos, which slipped to 2.5%. Catalan party ERC gained ground at 2.7%, and the Basque Nationalist Party edged ahead of EH Bildu for the first time in 14 months.
