A proposed overhaul of Italy's electoral law would significantly advantage the centre-right coalition, according to new projections, as the reform advances through the lower house of parliament.
Under the proposed Stabilicum system, the centre-right bloc including Roberto Vannacci's Futuro Nazionale would secure 48.5% of the vote and commanding majorities of 222 seats in the Chamber and 113 in the Senate, YouTrend modelling shows. The preference-vote mechanism would disproportionately benefit larger parties; for a party polling around 30%, roughly half its lawmakers would be elected via preferences.
Meanwhile, a Swg poll conducted 8–13 July places Brothers of Italy at 27.2%, while the Democratic Party slips to 21.3% and the Five Star Movement dips to 12.9%. Futuro Nazionale rose to 6.3% and Forza Italia to 7.7%, while the League fell to 5.4%.
