The Danish Meteorological Institute has issued a category 1 warning for localized flash floods and thunderstorms across nearly all of Denmark from midnight through Wednesday midday, with Bornholm as the only region excluded from the alert.
Funen and Jutland bore the brunt overnight, with seven flash floods recorded across the Jutland peninsula. The heaviest downpour struck Karup Air Base, where 28.7 millimetres of rain fell in just 30 minutes. Authorities expect 15 to 25 millimetres of rain to fall locally within half-hour windows.
The storms are moving northwest and expected to pass through Zealand, Lolland, Falster, and Langeland from early Wednesday morning until midday, before clearing by late morning, according to the meteorological service.
