BELFORT, France — Swiss cyclist Mauro Schmid won the 13th stage of the Tour de France on Thursday, claiming his first victory in the race after a two-man sprint finish against Colombia's Harold Tejada in Belfort.
The 205.8-kilometre route from Dole, the longest stage of the 113th edition, saw Schmid emerge from a massive 57-rider breakaway group. The 26-year-old Jayco rider already owns a Giro d'Italia stage win from 2021. Britain's Tom Pidcock finished third, two seconds back, and moved to fourth in the general classification.
Tadej Pogacar retained the yellow jersey with a 3-minute-36-second lead over Jonas Vingegaard heading into the race's final week.
