Samsung Electronics unveiled the Samsung Galaxy Card on July 20, its first credit card offered in the United States, marking a push into consumer financial services. The Visa-branded card is issued by Barclays U.S. Consumer Bank, and applications open to the public on July 22 through Samsung.com.
Cardholders earn 5% cash rewards on Samsung purchases, 3% via Samsung Wallet, 2% on streaming services including Netflix, Disney+, and Spotify, and 1% on all other spending. A $200 bonus is available to new users who spend $2,000 within the first 90 days. The card is available as both a virtual credential and a physical metal card, with account management handled through Samsung Wallet.
Samsung's North American fintech executive Lee Shi said the company intends to expand beyond credit cards. The launch leverages a large installed base: 70% of U.S. households own at least one Samsung device. Samsung also plans to relocate its U.S. headquarters from New Jersey to Plano, Texas, by year-end.
