Samsung Electronics denies exploring U.S. listing via depositary receipts

Samsung Electronics has denied reports that it is exploring a potential U.S. offering of American Depositary Receipts, dismissing speculation that the South Korean tech giant is preparing to tap American equity markets.

Bloomberg News had reported that Samsung held preliminary discussions with banks about a possible ADR listing, while Finnish business daily Kauppalehti noted the company was considering such a move but cautioned that talks remained at an early stage. A Samsung spokesperson pushed back directly, stating the company is not evaluating the possibility of issuing ADRs.

The speculation follows a landmark deal by fellow South Korean chipmaker SK Hynix, which priced its ADRs at $149 each last week, raising approximately $26.5 billion in what became the largest-ever U.S. listing by a foreign company. That transaction appears to have fueled market chatter about whether Samsung might pursue a similar path.
