Marlen Reusser claimed overall leadership of the Tour de France Femmes on Tuesday after winning the 21-kilometre time trial from Gevrey-Chambertin to Dijon in 27 minutes and 30 seconds. The Swiss rider took the yellow jersey from Sigrid Haugset, who lost more than three minutes on the stage and slipped to fourth in the general classification.
Dutch rider Lieke Nooijen finished second, four seconds back, while Demi Vollering placed third, 18 seconds behind Reusser on the day. Vollering sits second overall, 14 seconds adrift of the leader. Britain's Zoe Backstedt was fourth on the stage, 20 seconds down, and Pauline Ferrand-Prévot lost more than two minutes.
The race was held in temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius in eastern France. Wednesday's fourth stage covers 140 kilometres from Mâcon to Belleville-en-Beaujolais with eight climbs.
