A regional passenger train collided with a car at a gated level crossing near Manching, Bavaria, on the Ingolstadt–Regensburg line, destroying the vehicle but leaving its driver without life-threatening injuries. The train was travelling at approximately 120 kilometres per hour at the time of the impact, and the car was thrown from the tracks, coming to rest away from the line.
Emergency crews extracted the driver from the overturned wreckage using technical equipment before transferring him to hospital for further treatment. The train did not come to a halt until roughly 250 metres past the crossing, stopping in a wooded area.
None of the approximately 130 passengers aboard were injured, according to initial assessments. Travellers remained on board for about 90 minutes while the air conditioning continued to operate, and firefighters supplied them with drinks before two replacement buses carried them to the nearest station.
