Primoz Roglic will line up at the start of the Vuelta a España in Monaco on Saturday, his Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe team confirmed on Tuesday, ending uncertainty over his participation after a training crash in late July left the 36-year-old with a severe thigh hematoma and forced him to withdraw from two races.
The Slovenian is the record holder with four overall victories at the Spanish grand tour, won in 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2024, and has claimed 15 individual stages. He will be joined by a squad that includes Belgians Gianni Vermeersch and Jordi Meeus, New Zealander Finn Fisher-Black, Italian Gianni Moscon, Briton Callum Thornley, Australian Luke Tuckwell, and Dane Frederik Wandahl, the team announced.
Remco Evenepoel, runner-up at the most recent Tour de France, will not race the Vuelta, which concludes in Granada on September 13. Austria's Felix Gall is considered a leading rival for the overall podium.
