Jasper Philipsen won the second stage of the Renewi Tour in Ardooie, outsprinting Joshua Giddings and Soren Waerenskjold to claim victory and take the overall leader's jersey.
The race was reshaped by a crash that brought down first-stage winner and race leader Jonathan Milan along with Dylan Groenewegen roughly 67 kilometres from the finish. Amaury Capiot and Ayco Bastiaens abandoned the race following the incident. Tim Merlier, who suffered a mechanical problem in the closing kilometres, finished tenth.
Philipsen now holds a four-second general classification lead over Olav Kooij. In the separate Deutschland Tour, Louis Barré won the opening stage and took the leader's jersey from Isaac Del Toro.
