Julian Alaphilippe, the 34-year-old French cyclist and two-time road race world champion, has retired from professional cycling with immediate effect, walking away from the final year of his contract with Swiss-registered team Tudor. The announcement was reported Thursday evening by L'Équipe, with the 2026 Tour de France in July confirmed as his last race.
Alaphilippe won consecutive world titles in 2020 and 2021 and amassed 47 career victories, including three editions of La Flèche Wallonne, Milan–San Remo in 2019, the 2019 Strade Bianche, and six Tour de France stages. During the 2019 Tour, he held the yellow jersey for 14 days and finished fifth overall. He also claimed the Tour's mountains classification in 2018.
Alaphilippe spent 11 seasons with Quick-Step before joining Tudor in 2025 on a deal that had been set to run through 2027.
