Norwegian Labour Party finance spokesperson Tuva Moflag hospitalized after stroke linked to heart defect

Tuva Moflag, the Labour Party's finance policy spokesperson and chair of the Norwegian parliament's finance committee, was hospitalized last week after suffering a stroke caused by a blood clot.

Moflag fell acutely ill at her home last Thursday and was taken by ambulance to Akershus University Hospital, where she received treatment for the cerebral blood clot. The clot was triggered by a congenital heart defect — a hole in the heart. She was discharged on Tuesday following successful treatment.

Moflag is on full sick leave until September and will undergo heart surgery in the autumn to reduce the risk of another stroke. She is expected to return to work gradually after her leave ends.
