Argentine defender Nahuel Molina has departed Atletico Madrid to sign with AS Roma, the Spanish club confirmed Wednesday. Molina agreed to a four-year contract with the Serie A side, ending a four-season spell in Madrid.
The 28-year-old joined Atletico from Udinese in 2022 and made 181 appearances, recording nine goals and 17 assists. He posted a farewell video on social media Wednesday to mark his exit.
Molina arrives in Rome with a decorated international pedigree, having won the 2022 World Cup and back-to-back Copa America titles with Argentina. He also featured in the 2026 World Cup campaign that ended in a 1-0 final defeat to Spain on July 19. However, his transfer comes under a cloud: FIFA is investigating Molina and teammate Leandro Paredes over a post-final altercation following that match.
