Man arrested in Spain over fatal hit-and-run of Norwegian teenager near Marbella

Spanish police have arrested a man suspected of killing a 17-year-old Norwegian girl in a hit-and-run on a highway near Marbella. Nikoline Piwoni Høie was found dead on the A-7 motorway near Mijas in the early hours of 6 July, and a suspect has been detained as the alleged driver.

Høie had travelled to the Costa del Sol days earlier to follow Norway's football team and was last seen at the Funky Buddha bar in Puerto Banús, where she had been celebrating Norway's World Cup victory over Brazil. Her family reported her missing that night. The Guardia Civil is investigating whether a damaged Ford van was the vehicle involved, and police are still seeking two men who shared a taxi ride with Høie before the collision. Her body was discovered roughly 30 kilometres from the nightclub.
