A 17-year-old girl died in northern France early on Friday after falling from a moving truck and being crushed during celebrations of France's quarterfinal victory over Morocco at the 2026 World Cup. The incident took place shortly after midnight in the town of Aulnoye-Aymeries, in the Nord department. The teenager had climbed onto the back of a tractor unit without its trailer and lost her balance as the vehicle entered a roundabout on Rue Jean-Jaurès. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and one of six minors present was hospitalised in a state of shock. The truck driver has been placed in police custody as an investigation was opened.
World Cup celebrations across Europe saw sporadic disorder. Around ten arrests were made in the Paris region for phone thefts, armed violence, and mortar fire directed at officers, while a police officer was injured in clashes on Edgware Road in London following Morocco's defeat.
