Joshua Kerry charged with murder of Ann Widdecombe, trial set for June 2027

Joshua Kerry, 28, of Rotherham, South Yorkshire, has been charged with the murder of Ann Widdecombe, the former UK politician found dead at her Dartmoor home on July 9. Prosecutors allege Kerry struck Widdecombe in the head 21 times with a hammer after entering her Haytor residence while she was eating lunch, and removed a wallet from her handbag before leaving. The provisional cause of death is blunt force head injury.

Kerry is scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey on October 9, with a provisional trial date set for June 8, 2027.

A public memorial for Widdecombe will be held later this year, following an outpouring of public support.
