Chelsea forward Joao Pedro has signed a new contract keeping him at Stamford Bridge until 2034, extending his commitment to the Premier League club just over a year after his arrival. The Brazil international joined Chelsea from Brighton and Hove Albion in July 2025 in a deal worth an initial £55 million plus add-ons, having initially agreed an eight-year deal that has now been extended.
Joao Pedro finished as Chelsea's top scorer with 20 goals across all competitions in his first full season, becoming the first Chelsea striker since Diego Costa to reach that tally in a campaign without taking penalties. He was voted the club's Player of the Season by supporters and proved decisive on the international stage, scoring twice against Fluminense in the FIFA Club World Cup semi-final and again in the final victory over Paris Saint-Germain as Chelsea claimed the world title.
Manager Xabi Alonso has praised Joao Pedro's personality and leadership qualities. The forward scored Chelsea's opening goal of the 2025/26 campaign against West Ham United and is expected to feature when Chelsea open their 2026-27 Premier League season against Fulham on August 24.
