Italian consumer confidence climbed to 94.2 in July from 92.4 the previous month, while a composite business morale index edged up to 95.6 from 95.3, national statistics bureau Istat reported Thursday.
The manufacturing sub-index rose to 89.6 from 88.6, its highest level since June 2023, and sentiment in market services and retail trade also improved. Confidence in construction, however, fell to 96.8 from 101.6. Among consumers, most variables trended positive, though assessments of family economic conditions and saving intentions declined, Istat said.
The data arrives against a backdrop of subdued economic forecasts. Giorgia Meloni's government in April cut its growth outlook to 0.6% for this year and next, with a 0.8% rate projected for 2028.
