India's Ministry of External Affairs summoned Russia's charge d'affaires Vladimir Ladanov on Monday over a missile attack that killed four Indian nationals aboard a commercial vessel in the Black Sea.
The MV Golden Leo, a Turkish-owned bulk carrier sailing under the flag of Guinea-Bissau, was struck by Russian cruise missiles on Saturday as it departed the port of Odesa loaded with corn. The attack killed ten people — nine crew members and a Ukrainian pilot — and left one Indian sailor in critical condition. Eight survivors were evacuated to shore.
The Russian Defence Ministry said the strikes targeted Ukrainian ports and vessels, including bulk carriers it claimed were transporting military cargo.
