Hundreds cycle naked through Berlin in city's first World Naked Bike Ride

· Society DEU

Berlin hosted its first-ever World Naked Bike Ride on Saturday, as hundreds of participants shed their clothes to take to the German capital's streets on two wheels.

Approximately 500 riders cycled unclothed along a route stretching more than 30 kilometres, departing from Mauerpark and winding through the government district before finishing in Schönefeld, with some sections following the path of the former Berlin Wall. One outlet put the turnout as high as 700.

The global World Naked Bike Ride movement, held in cities worldwide, promotes cycling as sustainable transport and draws attention to the vulnerability of cyclists on the road.
