A 22-year-old German woman was arrested on suspicion of homicide after a passerby discovered the body of a 60-year-old woman in a park in the Poppenbüttel district of Hamburg early Saturday.
The victim, found along the Alsterwanderweg, bore signs of violent trauma, and emergency responders pronounced her dead at the scene. Police launched a homicide investigation and apprehended the suspect later that evening in the Alsterdorf neighborhood. Investigators indicated the suspect may have a psychological illness and said she would be brought before a judge for a custody hearing.
Authorities have not disclosed a possible motive or any known relationship between the suspect and the victim.
