Berlin homicide detectives have issued a public appeal for witnesses after the body of a 46-year-old woman was discovered in bushes near the Zeiss Grossplanetarium in the Prenzlauer Berg district on Friday morning. Investigators are treating the case as a homicide, and a specialised murder commission from the state criminal police office has taken charge of the investigation.

The victim was identified as Ilse Hartmann, according to authorities. She was described as approximately 1.70 metres tall and of slim build. When found, she was wearing a brown zip-up hoodie, a brown T-shirt and striped shorts.

On Sunday, police released a photograph of the victim alongside a witness appeal, urging anyone with information to contact the 4th homicide commission. A passerby had originally stumbled upon the body in the greenery close to the landmark planetarium.
